About Me
First let me start by thanking you for visiting my website and second, I would like to thank you for wanting to learn more about me.
Well, my name is April. I just turned 19 and I will be a sophomore at James Madison University in the fall. I am studying Media Arts and Design focusing on video production. I am also pursing a minor in Creative Writing. I would like to work in television and my dream is to create, write, and produce my own shows.
I do a little bit of web and graphic design on the side and this just so happens to be my latest project. I am really hoping that it will help me pay for some of my college expenses so it will take that huge burden off of my parents.
I am a pretty good student. I finished my first year on the Dean's List with a 3.53 GPA. I apply for a lot of scholarships but I never manage to get any. I am currently interning in Washington, DC which I am very happy about because I'm only a freshmand-soon-to-be-sophomore. I'm making fairly good money this summer but it's still not enough to cover one semester's tuition and housing. Books alone cost me $500 a semester and I order them online for half the price. I do anything to save money.
I have wanted to study abroad ever since I've heard about it and every college graduate that I know says that they either enjoyed their time doing so or regret not having the opprotunity to do it. With that said, I really need to raise money to study abroad or else I have no way of going.
I have also been very interested in learning about other cultures (I was president of the International Heritage Society in my High School). I recently discovered a program called International Student Volunteers. I would really like to participate in it by going to Croatia for four weeks. Two weeks to volunteer, and two weeks of adventure. But again, I won't be able to do this if I don't have the funds.
Similarly, I would like to participate in one of my school's Alternative Spring Break programs by volunteering in Jamaica during Spring Break next year. That costs about $2,000 in itself.
I'm just a 19-year-old girl in need of some money, not necessarily for myself but to help others around me. Especially my parents who are struggling to put two kids through college.
